Who we are

Founded in 2003, SpringLoaf Catering is owned and operated by husband and wife team, Darius and Caroline Somary.

Chef Darius grew up in Switzerland amidst a multitude of cultures and cuisines with strong European, Mediterranean, Indian and Southeast Asian influences. He studied at the California Culinary Academy in San Francisco from where he graduated with honors in Le Cordon Bleu Culinary Arts. His many years of culinary experience include working at a number of food establishments, from basic army field kitchens to the renowned restaurant Oliveto in Rockridge.

Prior to his career as a chef, Darius spent over a decade as a marketing consultant, traveling the world on multinational research projects for a number of Fortune 1000 companies.

Caroline, formerly a director of corporate client services for a leading global branding and design agency, is dedicated to providing a flawless customer service experience. Her professional event and client management skills, attention to detail and organizational capabilities have established SpringLoaf as the go-to caterer for reputable West Coast & International clients from Coca-Cola and KQED, to Macallan and Marriot.

Together with their expert staff of chefs, servers, dessert and pastry chefs, creative bartenders and mixologists, Darius, Caroline and the entire SpringLoaf team look forward to serving you at your next special event.
